This Flightmaster is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is strong and the original "Sunburst" finishing is still visible. The edges of the case are still sharp. The caseback shows some wear, but the "Sunburst" finish and "flightmaster" logo and text are still visible. The caseback has a small hand written watchmakers mark behind the lug at 11 o'clock. The case shows scratches, wear, and light nicks, it was probaly lightly polished. The paint is missing from the chronograph pushers (one pusher has some yellow left) and the crown located at eight o'clock. The internal rotating bezel shows some wear and patina. The dial has aged and developed patina throughout; the white "checkered" ring around the dial after the internal rotating bezel has developed dark patina throughout. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands has developed patina and darkened. The lume on the dial has developed patina and has aged to a pale yellow/ greenish color which is common for this model. The lume plot at four o'clock has developed some dark patina. The bracelet is in great condition with some wear and a bit of stretch between the links. The crystal is a later, domed style replacement; we saved the flat style one that came on the watch and it will accompany the watch.
Omega produced the Flightmaster for less than 10 years, it came out in 1969 and was discontinued around 1977. The collection was developed as a navigational tool for pilots and other world travelers, including the crew of the Concorde British Airways and Soviet Cosmonauts. During its production, two generations came to market distinguished by either the caliber 911 or 910 movement. Omega only made four different models of the Flightmaster; the ref. 145.013, ref. 145.026 like the watch here, ref. 145.036, and solid gold ref. BA 345.0801.
This example features a nicely aged "transitional" dial and one way to tell is the font of the numbers in the seconds sub-dial at nine o'clock. The numbers are a bit smaller and more compact when comparing to the later dials. This information was found in the book "Flightmaster Only" by Gregorie Rossier and Anthony Marquie.
